Background: The Alliance for Children Everywhere Zambia (AECZ) is hiring a driven , hardworking, and capable professional to take over leadership at Helen DeVos Christian School located in Kanyama area in Lusaka.

Alliance for Children Everywhere has been in existence for over 50 years, and in Zambia for over 22 years. In Zambia, our work spans orphans and vulnerable children, education, systems change for family based care, and community based family empowerment. We have over 100 employees or stipend positions, and our work impacts over 3,000 children.

We are now looking to hire a standout individual as Head Teacher at the Helen DeVos Christian School. The high standards and pass rate maintained thus far have placed high expectations for this role. Reporting: The position will be hired and domiciled at Helen DeVos Christian School. They will report directly to the Education Coordinator.

Job Description:

Job Purpose:

Responsible for providing academic leadership, management and assessment for all Programmes at Helen DeVos in order to achieve the aims and learning outcomes for the School.

Duties/Key Responsibilities

  • Provides general development and direction of curriculum in all academic programs
  • Oversees the effective and consistent delivery of programs and curriculum at Helen DeVos
  • Provides educational staff with annual training to review updates and changes in education programs.
  • Supervises timely the development of individual work plans and implementation of APAS in order to monitor, evaluate and enhance performance.
  • Supervises effectively financial, material, and human resources in order to facilitate the achievement of the school’s objectives.
  • Undertakes effectively the preparation and control of the Programme budget in order to facilitate resource mobilization and accountability
  • Undertakes effectively the development of work schedules and course allocation to teachers in order to efficiently deliver training
  • Plans and submits Schemes of work for each term.
  • Planning, running and supervising school activities
  • Manages and controls academic, administrative and ancillary staff
  • Ensures proper utilization, care and security of all school fixed and movable assets
  • Defends and promotes the good image of the school
  • Shows commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • High expectations for pupil attainment, personal development and conduct
  • Shows commitment to personal development, life-long learning and staff training
  • Shows commitment to helping with extra-curricular activities and curriculum enrichment
  • Perform any other related duties as may be delegated by the Education Coordinator/ or any other member of the Senior Management Team

Posting: Helen DeVos Christian School, Kanyama area, Lusaka, Zambia

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or equivalent. A qualification in Educational Management and Administration will be an added advantage but not a must.

Professional experience in an administration position

Registered and licensed by the Teaching Council of Zambia
Conversant with the Ministry of Education curriculum.
