Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is a nationally registered NGO working with development projects within the field of education, health, agriculture and other poverty alleviation programmes. Projects are carried out in all the provinces of Zambia reaching over 1 million people. Key funding partners include the Government of Zambia, national and international development organisations (USAID, EU, Global Fund, WFP and more) as well as private sector organisations.

DAPP in Zambia is looking to engage competent Accounts Assistants for its HIV Prevention in the Military project, run in collaboration with the Department of Defence (DoD).

The positions will be based one in each of the districts, namely; Chipata, Kabwe, Kasama, Lusaka and Ndola.

1. Job summary/responsibilities

1.1 Checking quality of retirement documents and this includes receipts, reports from the staff

1.2 Assisting in the preparation of periodic cash reconciliations

1.3 Posting transactions into the PASTEL accounting system according to cost codes

1.4 Preparing payroll reconciliations

1.5 Responsible for maintaining petty cash

1.6 Acting as the primary starting point for all internal controls on cash transactions

1.7 Taking responsibility for all assets and project resources in the office

1.8 Assisting in writing monthly reports on the administration of the office

3. Qualifications and Desired Experience

3.1 Certificate in Accountancy or first level of any professional accounting qualification such as CA Zambia, ACCA and CIMA

3.2 Paid up member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)

3.3 At least 1 year working experience in a busy environment

4. Key skills required

4.1 Working knowledge of Pastel Accounting Software or similar accounting packages

4.2 Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications

4.3 Good interpersonal skills

4.4 Analytical skills

4.5 Ability to learn new systems

4.6 Ability and willingness to work extended hours

5. Application method
