Lodge Manager Kafunta Safaris

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Lodge Managerto join our team and contribute to our guests’ unforgettable experience.

The Lodge Manager is responsible for all front-of-house operations of Kafunta River Lodge, provides leadership to staff, maintains lodge facilities while paying attention to details, and delivers a high level of hospitality by meeting the company’s standards and exceeding guest expectations.

The Lodge Manager reports to the Operations Manager and takes a leading role in the front-of-house operations while working closely with the rest of the managing team, which includes the owners/directors, the Operations Manager (general operations, HR, finance & public relations), Food & Beverage Manager, Maintenance Manager (general maintenance and vehicle workshop), Bush Camp Operations Manager and Safari Manager.

Key Responsibilities’:

Providing a welcoming environment for guests and high standards of services
Maintaining smooth lodge operations and providing leadership to staff (housekeeping and bar/restaurant staff)
Creating a personalized guest experience and paying attention to details
Hosting and handling guest requests and billing
Managing budget and operational costs, supervising stock control
Planning logistics, activities, guest transfers, rooming, etc
Working closely with the F&B team
Liaising with the reservation team and manipulating the PMS/booking system
Managing safari guides and ensuring high achievements
Liaising with the bush camps for operational matters
Monthly reporting
Assisting with marketing, handling agent fam trips and site inspection
Experience & Requirements:

Diploma or degree in Hospitality or Management
Minimum 5 years experience as Lodge Manager in the safari industry
Previous experience working with international guests
Accustomed to bush and wildlife environment
Customer Service: highly professional, passionate, presentable and friendly, hands-on approach
Management: strong team leader, hard-working, highly organized, multi-tasking
Communication: excellent spoken and written skills, in English (other languages are a plus)
Financial: good organizational and planning skills
Decision Making: confident, adaptable, able to work under pressure and long hours
Computer: computer literate and familiar with property management systems

Salary: negotiable

Accommodation: live-in

Kafunta Safaris is located in Zambia, at the edge of South Luangwa National Park. The main operational base is Kafunta River Lodge (10 guestrooms plus the Sunset House with 3 bedrooms). The company also operates Three Rivers Camp and Island Bush Camp both with 5 guestrooms.
