Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Agronomist to join our team. As an Agronomist at A Chance for Change Foundation, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing agricultural projects that promote sustainable practices, improve crop yields, and support the livelihoods of local communities. Your expertise will contribute to our mission of fostering positive change through sustainable agriculture.

Key Responsibilities:

– Conduct soil, water, and plant tissue tests to develop effective crop management plans.

– Research and implement sustainable farming practices, including but not limited to crop rotation, organic farming, and water conservation techniques.

– Provide technical guidance and training to farmers and community members on modern agronomy practices and technologies.

– Collaborate with the research and development team to trial new agricultural techniques and products.

– Monitor crop health and progress, providing recommendations to address pests, diseases, and other agricultural issues.

– Prepare and present reports on project progress, findings, and outcomes to stakeholders.

– Work closely with other teams within the foundation to ensure alignment of agricultural projects with broader environmental and socio-economic goals.

– Travel to project sites as needed to oversee the implementation of agronomy practices and assess their impact.

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Science, or a related field.

– Minimum of 3 years of experience in agronomy, crop science, or a similar role.

– Strong understanding of sustainable agriculture practices and their application in various environmental and socio-economic contexts.

– Proficiency in soil and plant analysis techniques.

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with community members, team members, and stakeholders.

– Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.

– Flexibility to travel and work in different geographical areas, including rural settings.

– Fluency in English and Bemba, with additional languages considered an asset.
