ABOUT THE COMPANY

Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (LpWSC) is a Commercial Water Utility Company, which was incorporated under the Companies Act (Cap 388 of the Laws of Zambia) as a limited liability company (by shares) in December 2008. LpWSC was specifically established to provide water supply and sanitation services to all the people in all the Areas of Luapula Province (Urban and Rural areas). Operations of the Company begun in 2009 and the Company is currently operating in Six (6) out of the Twelve (12) districts of the province, namely: Mansa, Samfya, Kawambwa, Mwense, Nchelenge and Chienge districts.

LpWSC now seeks to recruit a high profile, self-motivated, innovative, honest, committed, adequately and appropriately experienced, dynamic, and skilled person to fill the following vacant position:

POSITION: REVENUE OFFICER (JOB GRADE LWS 5)

JOB PURPOSE:

To coordinate and undertake revenue collection duties to ensure that all outstanding bills are paid up by the debtors, enforcement of the Company’s Debt Management Policy and ensuring the achievement of set revenue collections and debt deduction targets for the Company.

KEY RESULTS AREAS AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Revenue Collections and Strategy: Invents, recommends and implements revenue collection strategies and programs to meet revenue collection efficiency targets.
  • Debt Management: Monitors all arrears on all customers’ accounts to ensure payment of outstanding amounts, including management of External Debt Collection Agencies
  • Collections Reports: Consolidates daily collections from all Business Units and all Payments platforms and provides daily collections into various other periodic reports
  • Credit Referencing: Manages the Credit Rating and Referencing Managements System
  • Commercial Services: Identifies opportunities that lead to business expansion
  • Customer complaints: Investigates and resolves major customer complaints related to debt management and revenue collection functions across all Business Units.
  • Meetings: Serves as Secretary to Debt Management Committee and convenes meetings
  • Performance Management: helps in setting, monitoring and evaluating performance of Business Units, Subordinates and Collaborating Staff to ensure that the revenue collection and debt reduction performance objectives and targets are always met.
  • Liaises with Head of Commercial Department to obtain details relating to defaulting clients and arranges appointments with concerned clients to facilitate debt recovery.
  • Create trust relationships with debtors, whenever possible, to avoid future issues.
  • Alerts Supervisor and Management of Debtors who are unwilling or unable to pay and also complies with legal requirements when legal debt recovery action is unavoidable.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • School Certificate with 5 ‘O’ Levels, with a Credit or Better in English and Mathematics
  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent (i.e. a ZQF Level 7 Qualification) in a Business Discipline such as Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration or in Law.
  • Experience: 5+ years post-Qualification work experience in debt collection
  • Diploma in any of the above core fields with more than Eight (8) years of post-Qualification Work Experience in a similar position may be considered
  • Age Limits: Not more than 40 years old
  • Membership to a Professional Body is a Requirement
  • Clean Driver’s Licence will be an added advantage
