Head of IT Talent House

Our Client is looking for a talented and suitably qualified candidate to join their IT & Network Administration department as a  Head of IT.  This is a full-time role based in Lusaka and requires at least 6 years experience.

About the role:

The Head of IT will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of our information technology systems. He/She will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of IT infrastructure, managing a team of IT professionals, and driving technology initiatives that align with the business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic IT Planning and Execution: 

  • Develop and implement strategic IT plans that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Identify emerging technologies and trends to formulate effective IT strategies and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of IT solutions and projects.

IT Infrastructure Management: 

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and databases.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of data and information systems through robust cybersecurity measures and disaster recovery plans.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and oversee procurement of IT hardware, software, and services.

Team Leadership and Development: 

  • Lead and manage a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Promote a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and professional growth within the IT team. Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide feedback to enhance team performance.

Technology Innovation and Integration: 

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and evaluate their potential impact on the company’s IT systems and operations.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology for process improvement, operational efficiency, and customer experience enhancement.
  • Drive the integration of IT solutions across different departments and functions.

Risk Management and Compliance: 

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and data protection regulations.
  • Implement robust security measures and policies to protect the company’s IT infrastructure and data.
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential IT risks.

Budgeting and Resource Management: 

  • Develop and manage the IT department’s budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to maximize ROI.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness.

IT Governance and Policies:

  • Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficient and compliant IT operations.
  • Establish governance frameworks and monitor adherence to policies and standards.
  • Drive IT service management practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Communication and Stakeholder Management: 

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including senior management, to understand business requirements and align IT initiatives.
  • Communicate IT strategies, plans, and progress to stakeholders in a clear and effective manner.
  • Act as a liaison between the IT department and other business units, fostering strong relationships and promoting collaboration.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role
  • Strong technical knowledge and expertise in IT infrastructure, systems administration, network management, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience in managing and leading a team of IT professionals, with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. In-depth understanding of IT project management principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, standards, and regulatory requirements related to IT operations and data security.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and other business applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
