Requirements:
Grant Writing Experience: Prior grant writing experience, preferably in a nonprofit or similar setting.
Excellent Writing Skills: Strong written communication skills with the ability to craft compelling grant proposals.
Research Proficiency: Ability to research and identify potential grant opportunities.
Collaboration Skills: Effective collaboration and communication skills to work with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities:
As a Grant Writer for the Free Haven Community Initiative, you will play a vital role in helping us secure the funding necessary to support our mission and projects. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Grant Research and Identification:
Conduct research to identify potential grant opportunities that align with our organization’s mission and goals.
Stay up-to-date with funding trends, opportunities, and deadlines from various foundations, government agencies, and other potential sources.
Proposal Development:
Collaborate with FHCI staff and stakeholders to gather information and insights for grant proposals.
Write clear, compelling, and well-structured grant proposals that effectively communicate our organization’s mission, objectives, and impact.
Tailor grant proposals to meet the specific requirements and priorities of each funding source.
Grant Management:
Monitor the status of submitted grant applications and track deadlines.
Maintain accurate records of grants applied for, including outcomes, reporting requirements, and grant-related correspondence.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of grant reports and fulfill any post-award reporting obligations.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with program and finance teams to develop budgets and financial narratives for grant proposals.
Communicate effectively with internal teams to gather necessary information and ensure alignment between grant applications and organizational goals.
Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with funding organizations, program officers, and other relevant stakeholders.
Grant Strategy and Evaluation:
Develop and implement a comprehensive grant strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and funding needs.
Participate in ongoing evaluation and assessment of grant activities, making recommendations for improvements and adjustments as needed.
Sustainability and Growth:
Work with the organization’s leadership to explore diversified funding streams and identify opportunities for long-term sustainability and growth.
Professional Development:
Stay informed about best practices in grant writing, fundraising, and nonprofit management.
Participate in professional development activities and training to enhance your grant writing skills and knowledge.
