Request for Expression of Interest: Ishiwi Endline Survey

Restless Development is a global agency for youth led change that supports young people to demand and deliver a just and sustainable world for all. Restless Development has been equipping youth to voice their priorities, facilitating their access to decision makers for accountability and supporting platforms for youth to demonstrate that they are effective change agents.

Restless Development has been working on the Ishiwi project for the last two years, in partnership with BBC Media Action (the BBC‘s international development charity) in implementing the project.

Restless Development and BBC Media Action are calling for proposals from various research organizations/agencies to conduct an endline survey for their Ishiwi project to be conducted in June to July 2018. The purpose of the survey is to evaluate the outcomes/impact of the Governance programmes it is implementing. The programmes have been running for two and a half years, ending in August 2018.

1.BACKGROUND TO THE EVALUATION

Restless Development is a global agency for youth-led development that supports young people to demand and deliver a just and sustainable world for all. The agency is run as strategic hubs in ten countries across Africa, Asia and in the UK and USA, with a wider network of partners across the world. The agency strives to ensure that young people have a voice, a living, sexual rights, and are leaders in preventing and solving the world’s challenges. Restless Development has been working with young people since 1985 and its work is led by thousands of young people every year. The agency listens to young people, involves them in leading its work and delivering lasting change in their communities and countries.

International Citizen Service is a cross-cultural volunteering programme funded by the Department for International Development (DFID-UK) through VSO. Restless Development is one of the agencies running the programme and in Zambia through its Zambia hub for a period of 3 years in the Central Province of Zambia.

2.PURPOSE OF THE EVALUATION

Restless Development Zambia would like to commission an endline evaluation of the Programme to assess the performance and effectiveness of the project that has been implemented for the past three years in 10 communities of Central Province in partnership with the ministry of Education and other stakeholders.

Based on the findings and conclusions from the assessment of the project’s achievements, the evaluation is expected to provide lessons learned from the implementation of the programme‘s activities and the outcomes achieved, which will be useful to improve the design and delivery of similar future Restless Development programmes.

3. SCOPE OF THE EVALUATION:

The evaluation is expected to cover all the programme activities delivered in Chibombo and Kabwe Districts, from September 2015 to May 2018, around the 3 programme objectives described above in the ‘Background to the evaluation‘ section. In accordance with the thematic areas in which the programme has worked along the 3-year implementation, the evaluation will cover: Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Civic Participation, and Livelihoods and Employment.

We are currently looking for a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to be part of the Programme Quality team within Restless Development’s Zambia.

Restless Development Zambia has since 2003, been equipping youth to voice their priorities; facilitating their access to decision makers for accountability; and supporting platforms for youth to demonstrate that they are effective change agents. We strengthen government, institutions and civil society partners’ capacity to engage with youth. Our evidence based policy engagement is unique in its approach, cutting across government, private sector and the NGO sector and this has set us apart as an innovative partner in development.



The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will be based at the Kabwe Office and will will determine communications strategy and execute programs to deliver communications objectives throughout the organization. S/he will give training and advice through remote support to colleagues in Restless Development to increase their capacity for design and digital marketing. S/he will also provide oversight to all Restless Development National Public events. The marketing and communications coordinator will also plan content and write copy for organisational publications. Additionally they will also be expected to execute campaigns (Drive corporate strategy and message development, pitch and announcement of strategies, awareness raising, and Young leader signups) and regular update the website and social media platforms this will also include monitoring of our online presence ensuring quality and frequency of communications. The Marketing and Communications coordinator will have excellent writing skills and proven design skills for a variety of print and online media (including experience in Adobe in Design and Photoshop and excellent understanding of digital communications (a flair for social media).
