The Catholic Medical Mission Board Zambia (CMMB-Z) is a faith-based local organisation whose mission is to provide long-term, co-operative health and development aid to communities affected by poverty and healthcare issues.

Background

CMMB Zambia anticipates the award of a five-year USG-funded project to be implemented in Lusaka, Eastern, Southern and North-Western provinces of Zambia. The goal of the project is to offer technical assistance (TA) to difficult-to-reach communities, including rural communities and faith communities, around faith-based facilities across the project-supported provinces. The project will cover the continuum of services from HIV prevention, case finding, and treatment to retention and client monitoring. CMMB is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals with relevant experience for the following positions aimed at contributing to CMMB’s strategic vision on the Project

Job title: Principal Investigator

Location: Lusaka

JOB OVERVIEW
The PI will have overall responsibility for the project and will provide strategic leadership and oversee the team managing all project activities and supporting operations. The primary responsibility for project delivery and success lies with the PI. Toward that end, the PI will liase with the donor and with other stakeholders in Zambia and provide coordination among the management team, other implementing partners and NGOs, and government agencies. The PI She also has overall responsibility in the areas of operations, administration, logistics, procurement, budgeting, and financial accounting. The PI has final responsibility for planning, budgeting, and implementation of the technical vision and approach, as well as for reporting and ensuring that all levels of the project and project-supported sites are working in alignment with donor and CMMB policies and protocols. The PI will also ensure the project complies with award terms and conditions, donor regulations, and organizational systems to mitigate the risk of fraud, waste, and abuse. In addition, the PI will supervise the recruitment, hiring, and supervision of all staff and holds ultimate responsibility for staff safety.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree and a master’s degree or its equivalent in health, public health, public administration, business administration, international relations, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience managing donor-funded and/or other development programs related to health, with demonstrated experience leading a team to achieve development results.
  • At least 10 years of senior-level experience in civil society, governance, organizational capacity building, advocacy, or other related sectors.
