Marketing and Sales Officer Ulendo Creative Media

JOB DESCRIPTION: To pro-actively sell and market the Ulendo creative media agency in Zambia and around the world. Increasing brand visibility in the B2B space and maximising new client acquisitions through online marketing, networking, and direct private and public project bidding to meet our ambitious growth targets.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Develop and implement marketing strategies for each period, identifying key clients with creative needs and utilising all channels to promote our services in line with targets for income.
  2. Negotiate the marketing budget across all creative services with the business manager in line with the marketing plan.
  3. To gain and use in-depth understanding of the creative offering to convert leads into clients by tailoring our services to ensure we are communicating how our services meet the needs and targets of each customer.
  4. Attending events within the creative space to also gain first hand market research from industry specialists.
  5. To develop and identify new leads using newspaper reviews, online Job postings, networking.
  6. To work closely with the director and business manager generating sales leads, setting up meetings/calls for them with warm leads and providing them with a full brief of requirements ahead of their pitch.
  7. To work closely with the directors and business managers in preparation for any pitch or bidding for creative services.
  8. Identify new methods and channels for promoting the creative agency, including advertising and always seeking cost effective options.
  9. Develop and implement an effective and engaging digital communication and marketing plan for the Agency and its affiliates social media pages and websites.
  10. Develop and implement monthly content calendars
  11. To provide marketing advice and expertise to Ulendo Creative media business leaders.
  12. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the marketing plans, making recommendations for improvement.
  13. Provide regular reports summarising the outcomes of marketing activities against targets agreed with the business director. Include recommendations for improvements and outline timescales as part of this.
  14. Manage external printers and designers to ensure that all materials are of the required standard, and come in on time, within budget and on brand.
  15. Establish and maintain excellent relationships with staff at all levels.
  16. Along with other members of the Communications and Marketing Team, ensure the corporate image and branding is maintained throughout all communication channels.
  17. To undertake any other duties considered to fall within the scope of the position as directed by the business director.

Qualifications (Essential)

  • Good level of general education including English and IT
  • Formal marketing/communications qualification or working towards one

Candidates educated to degree level or equivalent will be desirable.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of communicating effectively with others, in person or over the phone; ideally experience of direct sales.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and marketing software (e.g. CRM)
  • Proven experience as marketing officer or similar role
  • Proven experience of working to achieve targets within a set timeframe.
  • Experience in effectively influencing people using your excellent communication skills, both in person and over the phone.
  • A good understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience of working in marketing and communications.
  • Experience of working within the creative industry or similar.
  • Experience of devising successful marketing plans, implementing them and evaluating their success.
  • Experience of using digital media to deliver marketing and communication objectives.
  • Experience of design, print, production and agency management.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to write persuasive and targeted copy.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Confident communicator with good listening skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Well organised, proactive self-starter with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Team player with keen attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
