Marketing Specialist (Lusaka)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the role will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies and budgets to attain market dominance for Sanlam Life Insurance Zambia

Main Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Determine the demand for products and services offered by the group and identify potential customers.
  • Market analysis to monitor trends that indicate the need for new products and service development, & champion the development of such products and services.
  • Champion marketing strategies (traditional, digital and other) to promote company brand, its products & services and customer engagement.
  • Market segmentation to implement marketing analytical tools and environmental scan techniques to identify market opportunities.
  • Evaluate the performance and financial aspects of service and product development in light of return-on-investment projections.
  • Support Sales in managing product & service packaging and distribution strategies
  • Manage and coordinate all marketing, advertising and promotional staff and activities.
  • Strategize and drive initiatives on building brand equity & packaging of products and services by leveraging on the product/ service offerings of Sanlam.
  • In liaison with Commercial teams, conduct economic and commercial surveys to identify potential products and services as well as their markets.
  • Rejuvenate the existing Sanlam and product brands and increase their visibility.
  • Develop and implement marketing plans as well as projects for new and existing products
  • Develop and champion customer engagement processes and activities to maintain a high customer service index and high retention
  • Manage the corporate affairs/ public relations activities of the company.
  • Monitor the general risk environment as well as the competitive environment to identify emerging opportunities and threats and devise growth strategies
  • Sensitise staff about the role of marketing

Minimum qualifications and experience

  • Grade 12 (or equivalent)
  •  Business/ Marketing-related degree.
  •  Professional Marketing Qualification or MBA in Marketing or Strategy will be an added advantage
  • 3 – 5 years relevant experience in a similar role, preferably with a multinational financial, Tech company or a marketing agency
  • Experience in all aspects of developing and maintaining marketing strategies
  • Experience in digital & online marketing a must
  • Proven experience in customer and market research
  • Deep understanding of changing customer needs and demographic trends
  • Proven ability to extract value from big data for decision making.
  • Proven ability to manage complex customer relations across a variety of digital & traditional channels
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Organization and planning skills
  • Problem analysis and solving skills
  • Good interpersonal & Teamwork skills.
  • A self-starter, innovative & creative thinker with a good business sense.
  • Good negotiation & persuasive skills
  • Digital crisis management skill
