Credit Officer Spectrum Credit Limited

Department: Credit Risk and Compliance

Reporting Relationships: Functionally reports to the Credit Supervisor

Purpose:

Reviewing all credit requests and ensuring compliance with standard regulations and policies before disbursement and assisting the business with the preparation of credit proposals and structuring of credit proposals.

Job Descriptions:

  • Review and appraise all credit requests and ensure proper structuring of credit facilities
  • Regular reviews of credit policies and credit programs and make appropriate recommendations to management
  • Generate monthly statutory reports on credit reviews
  • Ensure compliance with all credit approval processes and procedures
  • Review deal memos and product programs with the view of optimizing credit facilities and products.
  • Ensure that daily excesses and expired limits are attended to in terms of the excess policy process
  • Ensure that limits are renewed on time and attend to daily excesses.
  • Confirm risk ratings of all customers and advise business offices on appropriate steps to take
  • Drive the achievement of minimal loan loss provision (PAR less than 2%).
  • To ensure that all credit approvals conform to internal credit policy and regulatory guidelines
  • Ensure that all approved facilities are in line with the approved parameter
  • All other activities as delegated by the Head of Credit/Chief Credit Officer

  • Responsiveness to internal customer requests
  • Minimum turnaround time for credit processing
  • Timeliness in the preparation of exception reports/reviews on all credits including credit product programs
  • Timeliness and efficiency in reviewing credit policies
  • Compliance with internal and external policies and regulations
  • Value addition to credit requests

Job Requirements & Knowledge:

  • Industry Knowledge is key
  • Good knowledge of financial accounting is a must
  • Good understanding of financial statements
  • Good knowledge of credit analysis and risk assessment is a must
  • Good knowledge of internal and external policies and procedures

Application requirements:

1. Full grade 12 certificate
2. A first degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution (MBA, MSc, MA/or Professional Qualifications is an added advantage)
3. Minimum of 2 – 3 years of banking experience in a credit-related role is a must-have.
4. Registered member of a related field governing body will be an advantage
