Fleet Manager responsibilities include:

Liaising with workshop and drivers to maintain vehicles
Licensing, registrations, insurances, and accidents
Assisting in the recruitment of quality trained drivers
Safeguarding property and adhere to all code regulations

Job brief

We are looking for a Fleet Manager to join our team to oversee the functioning operation and maintenance of vehicles and drivers to maximize our efficiency and profitability.

Fleet Manager responsibilities include assisting in recruiting drivers, maintaining vehicle serving records and ensuring operational efficiency across the fleet throughout the year.

Ultimately, you will work closely with the Workshop Manager, Sales Manager and Delivery Drivers in our organization to ensure operations run smoothly and our vehicles are maintained based on our organization’s standards and in line with all regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage drivers so they adhere to the Drivers Code of Ethics and  responsibilities
• Find ways to cut costs and maximize profits
• Manage strategies for greater fuel efficiency
• Manage the vehicle tracking solution
• Maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection.
• Ensuring the whole fleet is in good condition by planning for their servicing and repairs.
• See to it that the whole fleet is road worthy as regards to Road Tax, Insurance, and Certificate of Fitness.
• Supervise the drivers and ensure that they have the right documentation as drivers and educate them on their responsibilities regarding daily duties.
• Supervise and control fuel usage and make sure drivers adhere to fuel normal usage.
• Supervise and control the drivers on their driving behaviors’.
• Monitoring the movement of the trucks in distribution through the Geotab; speed, stoppages and monitor the temperature systems on the trucks
• Planning and allocating vehicles for any required services and make sure transport is available when needed

Requirements and skills

• Proven work experience as a Fleet Manager or similar role
• Analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail to ensure records are kept as needed
• Ability to discipline and reprimand according to the disciplinary code of conduct
• Exceptional interpersonal skills to work with various departments
• A Diploma/bachelor’s degree in logistics
• Relevant training and/or certifications as a Fleet Manager
