Accounts Officer TopFloor Limited

Our client, an NGO focused on providing access to sustainable vision care is looking to hire an Accounts Officer. The Accounts Officer will be responsible for supporting the operations of the National Optical Laboratory (NOL) in terms of finance and inventory management across the country.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions related to the NOL, including receipts, invoices, and expenses. This includes preparation of all documentation required for payment request submission to the NOL National Authorizing Officer.
  • Manage accounts payable by processing vendor invoices, verifying accuracy, and ensuring timely payments. This requires working closely with the Country Office and the National Authoring Office finance team
  • Assist with accounts receivable by recording customer payments and reconciling accounts
  • Follow ups for hospital invoices to ensure the NOL is paid timely
  • Maintain an aged creditor and debtor analysis
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss, income statements, prepayments /accruals and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with government accounting principles, policies, and relevant regulations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing accurate and organized financial documentation.
  • Work closely with the lab team to analyze costs associated with operations and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Utilize accounting software and inventory management systems proficiently.
  • Recommend improvements or upgrades to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including NOL personnel, procurement and finance to ensure seamless operations.

Desired Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Should be highly organized and detail – oriented as they will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate recording, stock and invoice tracking as well as reconciliation of financial transactions related to the NOL operations.
  • Must have strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a solid understanding of accounting and inventory management principles
  • Must have a Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Bachelor’s Degree will be an added advantage.
  • Must have an ACCA part 2 or ZICA Level 2.
  • Should have up to 2 years’ experience in accounting/finance. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
  • Should have proven experience in warehouse accounting or a similar role.
  • Should have strong knowledge of accounting principles and inventory management.
  • Must be Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Should have excellent attention to detail and accuracy as well as Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Should have effective communication and teamwork abilities as well as ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing inventory and accounting practices is an added advantage
