Our client in the Banking sector seeks to recruit the services of a Manager – Credit and Evaluation to manage the loan origination process that shall uphold a high-quality loan book and underwriting standards in adherence with the regulatory guidelines and the prevailing credit policy.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reporting To: Chief Credit Officer
Supervision Of: Self, Credit Department
Interacts With: Management, Staff and Clientele

JOB DESCRIPTION
Demonstrate complete ownership and thorough understanding of the risk profile of the Retail as well as Corporate credit portfolio
Collaborate with Chief Credit Officer in relation to design, implementation of the Credit policy, risk controls, credit frameworks and credit products
Undertake quantitative and qualitative financial analysis to develop a comprehensive understanding of counter party risks for new or increased facilities. Conduct annual risk reviews on the existing portfolio base
Stay attuned to industry and market risk developments and trends in relation to counter party exposures and their impact on the underlying portfolios
Follow up and address non-adherence to terms and conditions of sanction by counter parties; to consider the inherent risk therein and to make recommendations as to action to be taken to regularize or mitigate such increased risk
Ensures Branches conduct credit appraisals exhaustively and prudently in accordance with the guidelines in the operations manual
Appraises all loan applications sent from Branches to Head Office for approval and make recommendations to higher authority accordingly
Prepare performance Appraisals for staff under Credit Evaluation
Participate in the development and execution of training of both Corporate as well as Retail Credit staff
Ensures that Branches adhere to the Banks’ lending and Credit Policy by obtaining complete documentation for assessment of credit and appraising suitability of applications for loan approval, examining supporting data/documents
Maintains a register for all loans received for underwriting
Ensure that Call Backs are done for all loans done under the branch limit
Ensure that all loans are approved in the system
Contribute to the development or modification of credit products to suit the market in liaison with other departments
Assist to Reviews systems and procedures pertaining to loan underwriting to ensure that the Bank realizes best returns
Performs any other duty as may be required by the supervisor from time to time

Experience: 5 years plus
Education Level: Degree
Qualifications: Commercial field or Equivalent
Software: MS Office
Equipment: Job related
Knowledge Of: Good Product Knowledge, Business Processes, Policy Guidelines, and communication
Skills To: Excellent written and communication skills
Ability To: Lead and Supervise
