Chief Financial Officer ASA Microfinance Zambia

The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships. They will collaborate with the CEO and the executive team to make decisions regarding company’s financial strategy and operations. The candidate will possess a strong background in finance and management.

Responsibilities

Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement preparation and analysis and ensure the financial statements are prepared in compliance with local GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and for Group reporting purposes in compliance with IFRS.
Provide advice and counsel to Country CEO, direct reports, senior managers etc. Provides financial analysis to a wide range of assignments, often under tight deadlines, to support numerous business processes and initiatives relating to financial services industry.
Responsible for annual Audit and half yearly Review by EY – Prior experience in this regard is essential
Ensure the company-wide implementation of a CBS, financial consolidation software, parallel running of existing reporting and operational package. Implementation and review of internal controls. This includes developing appropriate processes, procedures and tools to ensure that deficiencies are identified and corrected in a timely fashion.
Accountable and driver of Growth for the business in line with the annual and five-year budget.
Evaluate on an ongoing basis the reporting system including IT requirements, so that it reflects an accurate assessment of the operating revenues and expenses of the organization for the stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with all Federal/Government/Banking regulations, including taxation.
Evaluate on an ongoing basis the purchasing system in coordination with department heads so that acceptable controls, approvals, budget check and time frames are responsive to the requirements of the organization and generally accepted accounting principles.
Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team providing leadership and input to management peers regarding the financial implications of all major business decisions and transactions.
Manages annual operating and capital budget process, through review with senior management of the Group and Board. Assists with the annual business planning process. Local Board reporting and preparation.
Directs insurance requirements, payroll requirements, funding requirements and establishes relationship with local and foreign funders to raise funds to drive growth for the business.
Manage relationships with bankers, external and internal auditors and Government officials as appropriate.
Responsible for cash management and cash forecasting. Spearhead local Treasury and ALCO.
Drive the DFS (Digital Financial Services) initiative of the Group.
Maintain dotted line with Group CFO.
Academic Qualification and Expectations:

· Minimum bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related subjects.

· Professional certification in Accounting.

· MSc/MBA will be an added advantage.

· Minimum 7 years professional experiences as CFO or relevant role.

· Experience in working with a Financial Institution.

· Exposure to business law and risk management.

· Proficient in data analysis and forecasting methods.

· Proficient in the use of MS Office (Advanced stage) and ERP software.

· Exceptional fluency in spoken and written English.

· Strong leadership and organizational skills.

· An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers.

· Membership in the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is MUST.

Reporting Line

The Chief Financial Officer shall report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Compensation & Benefits

• Gross monthly salary ZMW60,000

• 2-year Contract (Renewable; Performance dependent)

• Gratuity – 25% of basic at end of contract

• Other benefits as per company policy
