Area Sales Manager – Mining (OMC) Brilliance Executive Management Consultancy

Job Purpose

The Area Sales Manager will maximize the availability of our products in the appropriate channels of distribution consistent with our brand strategy with an emphasis on superior new product execution. Build customer relationships at the buyer and senior buyer levels and facilitates connectivity in other functional areas including Marketing, Supply Chain, Communications and Operations. Implement, uphold and sustain high Safety Standards in line with Company’s Healthy, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) Policy.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Prospect for business and recruit new customers across all product lines (Fuels, Lubricants and LPG) and Sales Channels (Reseller/Wholesale, Mining and Consumer market).
  • Develop and implement sales strategies and build an effective marketing mix to gain a competitive advantage in the market.
  • Undertake regular supply and demand projections and keep the management well updated.
  • Prospect new business opportunities: identify new markets and promote company’s products after identifying opportunities.
  • Ensure budgeted sales volumes and products’ unit margins are achieved throughout the year.
  • Effectively manage the Trade Account Receivables (TAR) in commercial segment while ensuring full compliance to approved trading terms.
  • Follow-up on negotiations with new prospects across the sales funnel till on-boarding is done.
  • Sustaining rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits; exploring needs and nurturing healthy customer relationships.
  • Inspire and manage the sales team that will be recruited as the business grows. Ensuring there are clear goals and SMART objectives for each team member
  • Keeping abreast with current developments and trends in Zambia as well as East and Central African market; to draw insights from this information, sense and seize opportunities.
  • Obtain the necessary market intelligence and maintain regular briefs to Management.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships and professional networks in the market.
  • Attaining customer satisfaction at all levels the clientele base by ensuring high standards of customer service and utmost integrity.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly and annual sales reports with analysis of actual performance versus targets.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or Relevant Commercial Field
  • Experience in sales of lubricates/oil to the mining and transportation sector will be a plus
  • Must have vast experience in B2B sales within the Oil Marketing Sector
  • Must have strong current customer network in Solwezi and Copperbelt
  • Proven experience in executing corporate sales strategy at highest levels within current and prospective customers
  • Proven experience in Key Account Management with the Mining Companies
  • Experience in sales and providing solutions based on customer needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with Clients
  • Strong presentation, problem-solving, organizational and administrative skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Must be a member of a relevant professional body (i.e., ZIM or EIZ)
