EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES WITH OPPAZ
[OPPAZ] Organic Producers’ and Processors’ Association of Zambia is a non-profit making organization which implements Sustainable Socio-Economic and Ecological Design in which it provides Technical, Training and Extension, Production and Marketing Services to members throughout the country while pursuing a robust lobby and advocacy for pro-organic reforms. It targets 20,000 poor but economically viable direct beneficiary HHs with an expected extended outreach to 120,000 organic producers for support to produce, add value and annually market K780 million worth of certified natural and organic products by the year 2030. The chief objective is to develop sustainable livelihoods based on crops, livestock and non-timber forest products.

OPPAZ has embarked on OFS RFZ [Organic Food Systems: Impacts of a strong Organic Program on the Right to Food for individuals, households and communities in Zambia] which is derived from SSEED and funded by We Effect with a chief objective to strengthen the operational and governance capacity of the organic movement in Zambia for the latter to deliver equable organic agriculture value chain services and technologies for improvement of livelihoods of disadvantaged persons in Zambia. The Project is implemented in Chongwe, Kaputa, Lunte/Luwingu, Mpongwe and Petauke/Sinda districts.

OPPAZ is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the vacant positions in the OFS RFZ project.

1.0 TECHNICAL CO-ORDINATOR (1)
JOB PURPOSE
To coordinate programmatic implementation of all OPPAZ Projects and perform functions of Project Technical Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong professional and academic background in Organic agriculture, Agroecology, Soil science, or other related discipline in sustainable agriculture with wide experience in project management of similar nature at senior level.
  • At least five years of managerial experience in donor funded projects, of which at least three in Organic Agriculture/Farming.
  • Experience of work with rural communities is both an advantage and a requirement.
  • Fluency in one or more native languages spoken in the project locations.
  • Full School Certificate [Grade 12/Form V] or any equivalent from the Examinations Council of Zambia or other recognized examination bodies in Zambia.
  • A minimum of Bachelors’ degree in Organic agriculture, Agroecology or Soil science.
  • Member of the Agriculture Institute of Zambia.
  • A clear understanding and distinction of various sustainable agriculture practices from organic agriculture is an absolute requirement.

DUTY STATION
Head Office in Lusaka or any part of Zambia as may, from time to time be determined by the OPPAZ Chief Executive Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Programmatic coordination and implementation of OFS-RFZ Project.
  2. Developing and monitoring the implementation for all projects and having oversight of scope, risks, budget and time.
  3. Supporting and monitoring tools, methodologies and approaches developed and tested through project implementation to demonstrate program impact and support continuous program improvement.
  4. Maintain and strengthen partnerships and collaborations among all partners and donors.
  5. Plan budget and implement field activities.
  6. Supervise program staff.
  7. Collaborate with Monitoring and Assessments Officer on preparation and implementation of MEAL workplan

2.0 FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OFFICER (1)
JOB PURPOSE
To ensure prudent management of the Organization funds and keep a retrieval sound record of the same.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Full School Certificate [Grade 12/Form V] or any equivalent from the Examinations Council of Zambia or other recognized examination bodies in Zambia.
  • A minimum of Diploma in Accounting or Financial Studies and in possession of any professional accounting qualification recognized by Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants [ZICA].
  • A Member of ZICA.
  • A minimum of three to Five years accounting experience on donor funded projects and NGOs is an added advantage.

DUTY STATION
Head Office in Lusaka or any part of Zambia as may, from time to time be determined by the OPPAZ Chief Executive Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. In-charge of OPPAZ and OFS-RFZ Project management and financial portfolios.
  2. Budgeting, planning and preparing financial reports.
  3. Analyze and advise on financial matters.
  4. Manage all organization assets.
  5. Adhere to financial rules, regulations and guidelines.

3.0 MONITORING & ASSESSMENT OFFICER

JOB PURPOSE
To lead the and guide OPPAZ and OFS-RFZ staff on MEAL functions, processes and execution MEAL

To lead the development and implementation of a robust OPPAZ and OFS-RFZ budgeted MEAL Workplan

DUTY STATION
Head Office in Lusaka or any part of Zambia as may, from time to time be determined by the OPPAZ Chief Executive Officer

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong professional and academic background in organic agriculture, with traceable practical experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning. At least three years of managerial experience in donor funded projects, of which at least one in Organic Agriculture/Farming.
  • Working with rural communities is both ban advantage and a requirement.
  • Fluency in one or more native languages spoken in the project locations.
  • The candidate shall have a Full School [Grade 12/Form V] Certificate or any equivalent from the Examinations Council of Zambia or other recognized examination bodies in Zambia.
  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in agriculture/organic agriculture statistics, social science or development studies or related fields.
  • Member of the Agriculture Institute of Zambia.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Monitor, evaluate cause accountability and learning of the OFS-RFZ project personnel.
  2. Plan budget and implement OFS-RFZ project MEAL field activities.
  3. Collaborate with Technical Coordinator on preparation and implementation of MEAL workplan.

4.0 FIELD EXTENSION ASSISTANTS (5)

JOB PURPOSE

  • To implement project activities in the target locations.
  • To be the link between OPPAZ and beneficiaries in the target locations

DUTY STATION
Chongwe, Kaputa, Luwingu/Lunte, Mpongwe, Petauke/Sinda.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The candidate shall have a Full School [Grade 12/Form V] Certificate or any equivalent from the Examinations Council of Zambia or other recognized examination bodies in Zambia.
  • A minimum of certificate or diploma in agriculture or five years field experience in the project location area.
  • A fluent speaker of English and a native language in the location of the project.
  • A Community Extension Agent acceptable to the local communities in the location of the project

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Mobilize and facilitate beneficiary participation and uptake of project activities in the target.
  2. Provide beneficiaries with information and technical knowledge on organic agriculture.
  3. Facilitate production, produce bulking and marketing.
  4. Help in localized data collection and dissemination of project ideas to the local communities.
  5. Create project and other awarenesses needed to enhance delivery of project objectives in their locations.
