Job Description

Microbiologist to ensure GMP standards are met on total site and ensure production hygiene standards are maintained through the entrenchment of the best in class SHEQ standards, trough strong performance management and right SHEQ capability.  The role report to the Quality Assurance Technologist

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Carry out microbiological tests.
  • Prepare lab equipment for micro testing
  • Assist operational staff with resolution of micro issues
  • Perform GMP audits
  • Conduct weekly audits & Inspection
  • Monitor and ensure plant CIP schedules is followed
  • Communicate non-conformances to relevant parties
  • Assist in doing RCA for CIP non conformances
  • Agile in thinking and nimble in decision making
  • Adept at discerning and balancing the most important priorities Efficiently applies rigour and operating discipline to ensure decisions are made on a timely basis
  • Exhibits high level of commercial pragmatism and prudent commercial judgment
  • Thrives in ambiguity and effectively applies sound intuition/judgment
  • Assesses and makes clear trade-offs when making critical decisions
  • Applies a broad base of knowledge and experience to solve complex issues
  • Proven ability to foresee and take action against potential risks to the business/system as a whole

Skills, Experience & Education

  • Grade 12, O level with 5 credits or better.
  • Minimum Diploma in Food Technology Or Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology
  • Added advantage: Bachelors’ Degree – Food Technology and /or Microbiology
  • 2 years in food processing plant as Microbiologist
  • Advanced Computer Skills
  • Compliance, Governance and Ethics
  • Problem Solving & Analysis (conceptualising)
  • Self-motivation
  • Team player
