About the Project:

FZS Zambia (FZS-ZM) has a rich history of conservation, having been actively involved in the preservation of the North Luangwa Ecosystem since 1986 and the Nsumbu-Tanganyika region since 2017. Our mission at FZS-ZM is to bridge the connection between livelihoods and landscapes through conservation and enhancement efforts. We are dedicated to the continuous expansion of our initiatives, broadening both our geographical reach and thematic focus. These endeavours are made possible through FZS core funding, international government partners, and the contributions of private donors.

Your Tasks:

The Community Liaison Assistant – Gender shall be responsible for assisting in the smooth implementation of field activities for community outreach services in the North Luangwa Ecosystem

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integration and strengthening of Community-based Organisations and Traditional Authorities in gender, diversity, and inclusion
  • Implementation and Monitoring of all Social Interventions across the landscape
  • Monitor the implementation of improved learning access for learners at site schools
  • Improve and strengthen livelihoods, including health, and opportunities.

General

  • Adhere to annual FZS and donor budgets, following FZS and donor financial management policy and procedures for proper and transparent use of project funds.
  • Ensure responsible use and care of any project assets and equipment assigned to the community outreach team, including vehicles for field teams.
  • To attend such meetings, seminars and conferences as may be directed to do.
  • Work closely with the office of the DNPW extension staff, CRBs, VAG committees, NLE, Schools and other DNPW/FD/DOF field staff within the operational area.
  • Perform any other duties that may be delegated in line with NLCP’s strategy.

The Community Liaison Assistant-Gender is expected to be competent in each of the following areas and exhibit these competencies while carrying out their duties.

  • Initiatives: Pro-active, energetic, and a self-starter. Recognise and discuss new opportunities, report them, and address problems promptly. Maintain effective communication with management, project partners, and stakeholders.
  • Flexibility: Adaptable, resourceful, and receptive to new ideas; willing and able to adjust to changing circumstances.
  • Integrity: Be honest, reliable, and maintain high ethical standards. Show respect and fairness when dealing with others.

  • Good communication skills
  • Good writing skills.
  • Ability and willingness to live in a rural setting.
  • Ability to adhere to work ethics and NLCP core values.

Required skills, experience and qualifications

  • A diploma in social science, sexual and reproductive health rights, and psychosocial counselling. A degree is an added advantage.
  • At least 1 year of practical field experience working with rural communities in sexual and reproductive health rights, gender equity, and menstrual hygiene.
  • Basic practical experience working with traditional authorities will be an added advantage.
  • Strong community mobilisation skills will be an advantage.
