The Workers Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB is a social security scheme responsible for compensating workers in respect of accidents suffered and diseases contracted during the course of employment in accordance with the provisions of the Workers Compensation Act No. 10 of 1999 of the laws of Zambia

The Workers Compensation Fund Control Board invites applications from suitably qualified Zambian citizens to all the following vacant positions;

SYSTEMS ANALYST – APPLICATIONS(X1)

A. JOB PURPOSE

To plan and design database structures, handle troubleshooting of data corruption, ensure that procedures for data recovery are in place and develop/maintain computer systems in WCFCB.

B. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs and develops systems; improve existing features and develops solutions that ensure smooth upgrade of software by end-users
  • Contribute to the development of clear and concise requirements on the system development.
  • Plans and designs database structures to ensure that the structure and placement of all data is understood and documented
  • Carries out regular performance monitoring of databases, corrects database performance problems, and ensures data consistency between remote databases
  • Maintains data system integrity, confidentiality and security to promote a good image of the Board
  • Submits reports as necessary to management in order to maintain up to date documentation
  • Improves system quality by identifying issues and common patterns, and developing standard operating procedures
  • Develops clear technical and user documentation of all aspects of the systems in development and maintenance

C. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have the following:

  • Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with five (5) credits or better which should include English and Mathematics.
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in database administration and Systems development
  • Familiarity with Oracle Linux, Solaris and Windows Operating system
  • Familiarity with any of the version control systems, eg gii, subversion, etc
  • Experience and poses a solid understanding of object-oriented programming Java, C# etc.
  • Experience and poses a solid understanding in any web-based programming technology – C#, Java, JavaScript, etc.
  • Familiarity or experience working with various software development frameworks
  • Solid understanding of and experience with RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL) database systems. Should have an ability to translate complex data requirements into efficient SQL code for reporting and data extractions for analysis purposes
  • Good personal organization
  • Oral and communication skills

  • Problem-solving skills
  • Risk analysis skills
