Field Sales Representative Astro Technology

Job Title: Field Sales Agent
Location: Lusaka
Reporting To: Country Representative
Probationary Period: 3 Months

Purpose: The Field Sales Agent is responsible for actively promoting and selling our wide range of products and packages to potential and existing customers. The primary objective of the role is to drive sales and meet or exceed sales targets through effective communication, relationship-building, and product knowledge. This role requires exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and a strong understanding of the mobile device, fintech, and healthtech industries. The ideal candidate should possess excellent sales and negotiation skills, a deep knowledge of the mobile devices and technology industry, and the ability to work independently.

Astro Technology Zambia is a subsidiary of Astro technology group, a Pan African technology company driving social and economic growth in Africa through connecting millions of Africans to affordable mobile devices and access to credit services, whilst promoting adoption of healthy lifestyles through behavioural modification. We are a fully-fledged technology company with three divisions, which are Astro Mobile a device manufacturing unit, Astro cred a digital consumer lending platform and Astro Pulse a digital health and wellness platform.

Head quartered in SA, the company was founded in 2015, as a mobile devices vendor with active markets in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi Mozambique, Kenya and South Africa. Responding to the evolving needs and requirements of its clients, the company later expanded its services to include fintech and healthtech solutions.

Key Responsibilities
1. Proactively seek new sales opportunities and generate leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking, and referrals.

2. Present, promote, and sell Mobile Devices, Fintech & Healthtech products and packages to prospective customers.

3. Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction and fostering repeat business.

4. Consistently achieve and exceed overall sales and revenue targets set by the company.

5. Efficiently manage sales territory and ensure that the percentage of sales justifies the cost of lead acquisition.

6. Provide accurate and timely submission of sales activities, route plans, trip reports, customer feedback, market intelligence, and financial information to the Country Representative.

7. Continuously update knowledge about the products and services offered to communicate the value proposition to customers effectively.

8. Stay informed about competitive products, pricing, market conditions, and industry developments.

9. Travel within the assigned territory to meet with potential clients, establish relationships, and successfully close sales deals.

10. Maintain a professional and ethical demeanour while representing the company in all interactions.

11. Adhere to Astro Tech’s policies and standard operating procedures to mitigate risks.

12. Undertake any additional tasks or responsibilities as required by the Country Representative.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications:

  • Diploma level, or equivalent, or holding a relevant professional qualification in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
    Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in sales and distribution management, preferably gained in the microfinance, telecommunications, FMGC or healthcare industries.
  • Must have experience in working in high pressure sales environment.
  • Track record in achieving sales, financial and non-financial targets

Skills:

  • Proven ability to ‘sell’ ideas, concepts.
  • Negotiation skills Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office package.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal/communication skills – both oral and written
  • Analytical and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to interpret verbal, written and numerical data.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
