LSUC is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill up vacancies in various administrative positions as follows:

1.0 VICE-CHANCELLOR

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chairperson of the University Council, the Vice-Chancellor shall be responsible for planning, organising, co-ordinating and directing the operations of the University as directed by the University Council and in accordance with the Higher Education Act No.4 of 2013, as read together with the Higher Education (Amendment) Act No. 23 of 2021.The incumbent shall be responsible for, among others, the following:

1) Overseeing the formulation, implementation and review of all University College Policies and the Strategic Plan.

2) Overseeing the operations of the University College in all its core functions of teaching, research and community service, and ensuring effective risk management.

3) Serving as Chairperson of the Lusaka South University Senate, Procurement Committee, Executive Management Committee and any other appropriate management committees.

4) Presiding over employee performance management and leading in building a competent, experienced and Motivated workforce.

5) Ensuring that the operations of the University College and comply with all the University College Policies and applicable national laws.

6) Overseeing the process of budgeting and leading in the mobilisation of resources required for the operations of the University College, and ensuring that resources are utilised prudently.

7) Presiding over graduation ceremonies of the University College.

8) Fostering high value linkages and managing all stakeholders.

9) Representing the University College at various local and international fora.

10) Ensuring the preparation of quarterly and annual operational performance reports and submitting the same to the University College Council.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The University Council seeks an individual with:

1. Grade Twelve (12) Certificate or its equivalent;

2. Bachelor’s degree;

3. Master’s degree;

4. PhD (earned doctorate) or equivalent professional degree;

5. At least ten (10) years relevant post-qualifying experience in university education or equivalent institution, with a distinguished track record of successful senior management experience in higher education and/or a relevant corporate institutions;

6. A strong record of academic leadership and personal achievement in both teaching and research;

7. A strategic thinking capability with excellent and proven leadership skills, including the ability to inspire, motivate and challenge colleagues; bring about potentially unpopular but necessary change and maintain momentum in working towards agreed goals;

8. Experience in financial management, investment, business, budgeting, immediate and long term planning;

9. Experience in resource mobilization;

10. A high level of energy, drive and initiative;

11. The emotional stability and ability to balance the requirements of different stakeholders of the University College;

12. Must not have any criminal record.
