Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing operations of our small charity in Livingstone, with particular focus on organization of activities, fundraising, animal welfare and community engagement. Excellent organizational and inter-personal skills are essential, along with the ability to work with different people from different backgrounds and cultures, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and control.

The work is within communities around Livingstone and Kazungula Districts, with travel to field locations within Southern Province and outside of these areas expected. The Employee could be required to travel anywhere in Zambia from time to time.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Overseeing the day to day running of the donkey sanctuary and harness workshop.
Managing operational and field staff members and setting weekly/monthly program.
Day to day record keeping and input to monthly reports.
Make improvements to monitoring and evaluation tools used for internal follow-up program and updating donors.
Uphold animal welfare laws and protocols – liaise with veterinarians, government officials, police and traditional leadership when required.
Support and collaborate with field staff working under the FRP (Forest Regeneration Partnership) program.
Align field schedules to ensure both parties are present in the respective project area.
Regular meetings with FRP staff to ensure animal welfare standards are being adhered to and to solve conflicts if necessary.
Act as a point of contact and provide on-the-ground support for community members and donkey owners.
On call for emergency callouts – driving the company vehicle and trailer to assist in the field or collect injured/sick donkeys when required.
Project lead for new ‘Visitor and Education Centre’ at Maramba Farm:
Oversee the planning and execution of events, workshops, tours, and educational programs at the visitors and education center, ensuring they align with the center’s mission and objectives.
Foster positive relationships with the local community, schools, educational institutions, and other relevant organizations to promote collaboration and support for the center’s initiatives.
Maintain and update website + online shop.
Fundraising activities and support
E.g. Coordinate annual Easter Online Auction
Other activities as required.

Essential requirements

Excellent verbal and written communications – English, Tonga and Toka Leya.

Relevant qualification in agriculture or veterinary sciences.

Experience working in animal husbandry, or farm management – strong working knowledge of draught animals.

Experience with field work and engaging with stakeholders at community level.

Proven skills in data entry, monitoring & evaluation techniques, and report writing.

Staff supervision and leadership skills.

Fundraising experience.

Self-motivated and organized.

Driving license and motorbike license.

Salary: k8,000 gross
